My 2020 Goals

Cultivate What Matters Power Sheets Goal Planner

In my last post, I talked to y’all about these Power Sheets that Lara Casey at Cultivate What Matters created.
I bought them in October of 2019 and set out to work on making goals for the year 2020.

That was also a time in my life that I wasn’t very sure what my future held in the long run. It was hard to make “real goals” when you don’t know what lies ahead.

That’s what I love about these Power Sheets. They help you start focusing and honing in on what matters to you in your life.

Lara talks about what will matter to you when you are 80,90,100. What won’t matter? Asking these questions to ourselves really helps us hone in on what we truly want from life, and not to get sidetracked with things that will distract us from reaching those goals.

Distractions

2020, has felt like ONE BIG distraction! I was faithful at keeping track of my goals in January. Totally blew it in February, with the promise to myself I would be faithful in March.

Then craziness hit the world. I totally forgot about my Power Sheets until three-quarters of the way through the month.

This month, I half-heartedly pulled them out, thinking, “Why bother?” It’s not very easy to work on your goals when you can’t really do much.

I decided, at the very least, I can refresh my memory on my original goals and readjust if need be.

Same Goals Different Approach

As I worked hard on it that day, I realized that my big picture heart goals were very much precisely the same. I just needed to adjust the approach to reach my goals.

My Heart Goals, Big Picture is as follows:

“Who Do You Want to Be? What Do You Want to Be Known For?”
This is what I wrote down in my power sheets:

To be a kind, giving, encouraging person. One who finds value in everything and helps people see value and the good things in life, and to realize their own value as God’s creation.

To share the love of Jesus and clearly communicate the Gospel of Grace.

To be a good listener and have people’s trust to share their hearts with me.

To have wisdom to share that inspires others towards hope and want to know Jesus more.

To give people comfort in hard times, and motivate them to live their best life despite their hardships.

To give freely by helping others, to encourage people to think differently about their circumstances, to hope, and to trust, there is always a way with the Lord. To inspire others to live a life abundantly and not to give up or give in. Jesus will lead the way. They can have confidence in Jesus.

To be a loving person that people would want to be around.

The next question was, “Why I want to make what matters happen in the Big Picture” This is what I wrote:

I don’t want my life to be a waste. I want to fulfill God’s call on my life and be an example to my children, especially. I just don’t know exactly what God’s call on my life is yet. It feels like I have been drifting the last several years

More Specific

My name is Heather Church. I am in Christ. I am capable of change, and I’m deciding that I CAN. The areas of my life that most need to be cultivated are my thought life, family, marriage, blog, and health.

In the past, I have drifted along without intention, but now, I’m ready to initiate change through intentionally setting goals.

My legacy starts today; When I’m 80, I want to be known for my love for Jesus, others, and zest for the life I’ve been given. I want to inspire others to love Jesus, others, and life.

I will be known for encouraging others.

I’ll start living my life vision this year by Working on my goals consistently. I will do this little by little and with leaps of faith along the way. I want to make what matters happen because I want others to have hope and faith.

My definition of success is peace with the life I have lived.

I will live this by saying “yes” to God and where He leads me and saying “no” to the voices of people who distract me from my confidence in the Lord’s leading.

I will surround myself with less despair and fill my life with more love, positive, hope, confidence, faith, contentment, and gratitude.

My Word for the year is Confidence because I trust the Lord to lead me to make bold decisions, and courage that God is always with me.
